TURKEY GEOPHYSICS CONGRESS AND EXHIBITION

The “21st Turkish Geophysical Congress and Exhibition with International Participation” organized by TMMOB Chamber of Geophysical Engineers at Ankara MTA Halls was held on 16-18 October 2024 in 2 halls, 2 panels, 16 topics, 24 sessions, 104 oral and 15 poster presentations. The fact that the previous congress, the 20th Congress and Exhibition, was held in 2013 was an important finding for the geophysics sector. In the presentations made on the topics of Mineral and Geothermal Exploration, Petroleum and Natural Gas Exploration, Earthquake Structure Soil Relationship, Seismology and Tectonics, Near Surface Exploration, Geophysical Investigations in Airborne and Water Environment, Theory, Modeling and Inverse Solution, New Approaches in Geophysical Studies, the abundance of academic studies attracted attention. Two panels were organized within the scope of the Congress. The first panel was organized after the opening of the Congress and Exhibition; under the chairmanship of Eren PAMUK, Ayşegül Askan GÜNDOĞAN, M. Emin CANDANSAYAR, Bülent KAYPAK and Emin U. ULUGERGERLİ under the title “Earthquake in Building and Structuring: Geophysics-Civil Collaboration”. The second panel was held on October 17, 2024 with the title “The Future of Geophysical Engineering Departments and Profession” under the chairmanship of İsmail DEMİRCİ, with the participation of Emin U. ULUGERGERLİ, Bülent KAYPAK, Oya ANKAYA PAMUKCU, Turgay İŞSEVEN, Zihni Mümtaz HİSARLI, Özgenç AKIN, Fadime SERTÇELİK, Özcan BEKTAŞ and Çağlayan BALKAYA as speakers.

The presentations of our member Beyzade KAYGISIZ and our Chairman Halim DEMİRKAN titled “UMREK and Geophysics” were held on October 18, 2024 at 14.30 in Sadrettin ALPAN Hall.
