About Us

The Association for Professional Development of Mining and Geoscience Professionals (MAYEM) was established under the name Association for Professional Development of Mining Engineers (MMMGD) on September 3, 2021, with its headquarters in Ankara, and registered under the number 06-145-088. At the General Assembly held in January 2025, a decision was made to change its name to MAYEM – Association for Professional Development of Mining and Geoscience Professionals, thereby expanding its full membership from exclusively mining engineers to include geologists, geophysicists, and other mining professionals. The association's purpose is to:
Support mining and geoscience professionals in Turkey in gaining expertise in their respective fields, foster development in their work areas and in mining and geoscience-related technologies, bring professionals together, promote technical and social solidarity among its members, and contribute to the development of the country's mining industry.

MAYEM is a non-profit non-governmental organization, primarily structured to support the continuing professional development of mining professionals—especially in accordance with CRIRSCO and UMREK standards—through training and other necessary initiatives. It contributes to the mining sector particularly through activities focused on post-mining practices.

Under the abbreviation IPMS, the association organizes the International Post Mining Symposium. IPMS 2024 was held in Zonguldak.

The Mining and Beyond Journal is an independent publication issued every two months by MAYEM Economic Enterprise.
