MINING ENGINEERS PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION
MANDATORY PUBLIC DISCLOSURE
As one of the social responsibility projects of our Association of Mining Engineers Professional Development Association, it has become necessary to make a compulsory statement about our "Solidarity with Convicted and Detained Mining Engineers" project, which was launched recently with the donations and support of our association members, and a newspaper article containing heavy and ugly accusations about our association and mining in our country.
In this publication, heavy and ugly accusations have been made directly against our Association in relation to our social responsibility project, which is based entirely on volunteerism. Our Association has been targeted and exposed to a serious accusation.
The fact that this biased and highly inaccurate opinion has come from the mouth of a person who has served as the president of the Chamber of Mining Engineers and has held public office, with heavy and ugly expressions that do not befit him at all, is a separate ethical problem. We are deeply saddened that the mining sector and mining engineers of our country are under such a heavy stigma.
As is well known; As you know, our country's mining sector, which plays an important role in the development of the country with its export commodities that do not depend on imports, slowing down internal migration by creating employment in rural areas, production that relatively reduces foreign dependency in energy, supporting regional development by creating added value locally, serving our nation in all kinds of disasters with search and rescue teams, raw materials provided to the entire industry and sub-industries spread all over the country, with completely false and slanderous statements that will cause our natural resources to be banned from being operated and the country to become completely dependent on foreign resources; The accusations that can be considered as a betrayal to the profession, to the public institution in which they worked and retired, to the chamber of which they were the president and all members of the chamber, and to the mining professionals, have also made the bones of the mining engineer laborers who lost their lives together with their laborer brothers and sisters in Soma
We strongly and regretfully condemn this vigilantism against our association, mining engineers and the mining sector, which aims to strive for the professional development of mining engineers and thus to ensure that the mining of our country is carried out with the norms of developed countries, advanced technology, international techniques, occupational health and safety, environmentally sensitive, away from wild mining.
Our social responsibility project, which we have initiated with good intentions to support our fellow mining engineers and which is entirely voluntary, has no connection with anything other than our members and our Association. We declare that we are ready for the support of all interested parties, mining professionals and democratic mass organizations (non-governmental organizations), especially our TMMOB Chamber of Mining Engineers, which has more than 20,000 mining engineer members, and all kinds of cooperation in good faith for our social responsibility project.
About the Solidarity Project with Convicted and Imprisoned Mining Engineers
Social responsibility projects, which should be one of the indispensable activities of non-governmental organizations such as our association, are also considered important by us and direct projects are also developed in this regard. In this context, the social responsibility project "Solidarity with Convicted and Detained Mining Engineers" was developed with the donations of our association members. Within the scope of this project, which is related to the solidarity and continuous professional development of mining professionals; it is planned to communicate with mining engineers who are convicted and imprisoned due to legal problems that occurred while performing their duties. With this project, which is still in its early stages, we will finance it with the financial support of our voluntary members to the extent of their power, and we will be able to support the "victims of fate" in the true sense of the word. In order to make the imprisoned and convicted mining engineers feel that they are not alone, it is planned to work to increase their morale-motivation, to prevent them from leaving the profession, to attend their hearings, to visit and take care of them, to send professional and mining literature books to the libraries of the prisons where they are imprisoned, to subscribe to sectoral magazines, to find a job from the ex-convict quota when their conviction is over, and to provide support ranging from meeting the essential needs of themselves and their families.
