HİDRO’2025
22 Mayıs 24 Mayıs 2025The third symposium in the series initiated by the Department of Geology Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences of Süleyman Demirel University, under the leadership of the Association of Hydrogeologists and Water Resources Research (HİDRODER), titled “HİDRO’2025 National Hydrogeology and Water Resources Symposium”
The opening ceremony of the symposium was held at the SDÜ Prof. Dr. Lütfi Çakmakçı Cultural Center, and the opening speech of the program was delivered by Prof. Dr. Ayşen Davraz, Head of the Department of Geological Engineering and Chair of the Hidro-Der Board of Directors. In her speech, Prof. Dr. Davraz emphasized that water is not merely an environmental element but one of the cornerstones of social structure, economic development, and ecological balance, and that we all bear responsibility for the protection and transmission of water resources to future generations. At the opening ceremony, Düzgün Esina, member of the Board of Directors of the Ankara Chamber of Geological Engineers; Prof. Dr. Hasan Yazıcıgil, former member of the Board of Directors of Hidro-Der, Professor at the Department of Geological Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Hacettepe University, Head of the Department of Hydrogeology, Director of the International Kars Water Resources Application and Research Center; Mehmet Ekmekçi, Professor at the Department of Geology Engineering at Middle East Technical University, Founding Board Member of Hidroder, Prof. Dr. Hasan Yazıcıgil, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, Prof. Dr. Nevzat Özgü Yiğit, and our university's Vice Rector, Prof. Dr. Alim Koşar, delivered speeches. The opening conference of the symposium was conducted by Prof. Dr. Remzi Karagüzel, retired faculty member of the Department of Geological Engineering at Istanbul Technical University.
During the symposium, numerous scientists, representatives from institutions and organizations, and students presented papers and engaged in discussions. Topics covered included the Impact of Climate Change on Water Resources, Karst Hydrogeology, Coastal Aquifers, Groundwater Monitoring Techniques, Isotope Hydrogeology, Hydrogeothermal Systems, Hydrogeochemistry, Mathematical Models in Hydrogeology, Hydrogeology in Engineering Studies, and Surface Water Quality. Additionally, a separate session was dedicated to Lake Eğirdir, an important and indispensable water source for our province. The symposium program, held on the afternoon of May 22 and all day on May 23, included 10 sessions. The “Hydro'2025 National Hydrogeology and Water Resources Symposium” concluded on May 24, 2025, following a technical tour.
