France - Belgium Post Mining Workshop and Field Trip

Our Chairman of the Board of Directors and General Secretary Dr. Metin AKTAN attended the “Post Mining” workshop organized by the “Post Mining Network Association”, of which our Association is one of the founders, in Post Mining Regions in Belgium and France. The presentation made by Dr. Metin AKTAN on the practices in Turkey was followed with interest. Together with the Association, we had important discussions and reached an agreement on the preparations for the International Symposium to be held on May 22-24, 2024.

The workshop started with a visit to old coal mines and industrial heritage sites in Chalorei (Belgium).

In the program of the workshop on 3 September 2029, we are in Loos-En-Gohelle in Lens, France, a UNESCO-listed mining village, museum and cultural center. Located in the Nord-Pas de Calaais Mining District, the miners' village is also a settlement with a school, a church and a health center.

“At the closing of the Post Mining Workshop, we presented the now traditional memento of our Association to Prof. Beatrice Moriolle, President of the Association.
