FRAGBLAST 14
7 - 10 Nisan 2025FRAGBLAST 14 “International Symposium on Rock Fragmentation by Blasting” was organized by Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa and TMMOB Chamber of Mining Engineers Istanbul Branch between 7-10 April 2025 in Antalya, Antalya. Prof. Dr. Ümit ÖZER was the Chairman of the National Organizing Committee and Mesut ERKAN, President of the Chamber of Mining Engineers Istanbul Branch was the Vice President. European Society of Explosive Engineers (EFEE), ITU Mining Engineering Department, Explosive Material Industrialists Association (PAMSAD), Explosive Material Producers Association (PAMÜD) are the supporters of the event.
FRAGBLAST is a major international event organized to share the latest scientific and technical developments in rock fragmentation by blasting in sectors such as mining, quarrying and civil engineering. It also serves as the scientific platform for sharing the latest developments in blasting and explosives engineering. The primary objective of the symposium is to share scientific research in the field of blasting with industry, practical applications and experiences with academia, and to promote a deeper understanding of all aspects of explosive-rock interactions.
Since its inception in 1983, FRAGBLAST, one of the most prestigious scientific and technical events in the world, has been hosted by countries such as Sweden, USA, Australia, Austria, Canada, South Africa, Chile, Spain, India and China. These symposia bring together researchers and industry representatives working in the field of drilling and blasting, making significant contributions to scientific innovations and practical applications in the field of drilling and blasting.
A total of 547 participants from 26 different countries and 150 universities/companies attended FRAGBLAST 14. A total of 101 papers, including 9 invited talks, were presented in technical sessions. The event was supported by 20 sponsor/participant companies. A Blasting Video Competition was also organized within the scope of the symposium; the selected videos were shown in different areas throughout the event.
A total of 101 technical papers were presented and discussed over the four days of the symposium, 9 of which were invited papers. The papers were grouped under the following 13 main topics: Importance of Drilling and Advances in Drilling Equipment (3 papers), Electronic Igniters and Next Generation Explosives (3 papers), Rock Blasting Mechanics (12 papers), Blasting Impact Assessment and Control (6 papers), Fragmentation Prediction and Control (16 papers), Blasting Information Technologies (2 papers), Blasting Damage and Vibration (11 papers), Blasting Modeling and Simulation (15 papers), Explosive Performance (3 papers), Sustainable Blasting and Current Developments (5 papers), Surface and Underground Blasting (5 papers), Case Studies (15 papers) and Demolition and Special Blasting Techniques (5 papers). 150 universities, institutes and companies participated in the symposium, which also featured an exhibition area supported by 20 sponsor/participant companies. The exhibition booths attracted great interest and created a dynamic interaction environment for the participants.
