ITU 3rd Sector-Academician-Student Meetings
22-23 Ekim 2024The 3rd Sector-Academician-Student Meetings, organized by Istanbul Technical University Faculty of Mining, was held on October 22-23, 2024 at the İhsan Ketin Hall of the Faculty of Mining under the main sponsorship of YENİKÖY-KEMERKÖY Elektrik A.Ş. Students, academicians and sector representatives of the Mining, Mineral Processing, Geology, Geophysics, Geophysics, Petroleum and Natural Gas and Engineering Departments of the Faculty of Mining participated in the event, but the allocated hall was insufficient. Following the opening speeches, 32 speakers addressed the students in 7 sessions and 2 panels were organized. The moderator of the Responsible Mining Panel was Mr. Şeref OĞUZ and the speakers were Mr. Halil İbrahim KIRŞAN, Mr. Selçuk BOSTANCI, Mr. Mehmet YILMAZ and Mr. Hasan YÜCEL. The Mining and Environment Panel was moderated by Prof. Dr. Mustafa KUMRAL and the speakers were Mr. Burak IŞIK, Ms. Pelin U. ÖZKAYHAN, Mr. Özgün TÜRKELİ and Mr. Osman YOLBAŞI. On October 22, 2024, after the Opening and Responsible Mining Panel, the first session in the afternoon was named after the late Prof. Dr. Güven ÖNAL, founder and President of the Foundation for the Development of Mining in Turkey, and the second session was named after Prof. Dr. Şinasi ESKİKAYA, another name that will not be forgotten in the sector. The organizations that participated in this important meeting for students, academia and the industry with their speeches were, in alphabetical order, as follows: AMD, AVEKS, Çayeli Bakır, DMT, Ento Maden, Erdemir, ERSEL, ETİBAKIR, HATTAT, İMİB, KALE Maden, KOZA, Lidya Mining, MAPEG, MMMGD, ÖKSÜT Mining, Polyak Eynez, SAY Metal, SERHAM, Sibelco, TMD, TOBB Mining Council, TÜMAD, TÜPRAG, WEIR, Yeniköy Kemerköy, YPT. Apart from the sponsor representatives and speakers, students and academicians of the Faculty of Mining, most of the participants were standing due to the intense participation of the sector.
