23rd Coal Congress and Exhibition

The 23rd Coal Congress and Fair, organized by TMMOB Chamber of Mining Engineers Zonguldak Branch, was held in Zonguldak on 12-13 September 2024.

On September 12, 2024, it started with a very crowded Opening Speeches. In the afternoon, Ekrem Murat ZAMAN presented “100 Years of Mining Engineering Education” and Mehmet TORUN presented “Anatomy of a Disaster: Amasra Mine Accident” presentations were made. The last Congress event of the day was the panel titled “Regulation on Occupational Health and Safety in Mining Workplaces and Problems Experienced in Underground Coal Mining in Practice” moderated by Mr. Ayhan YÜKSEL, President of the Chamber of Mining Engineers, with the participation of Aygün EKİCİ from İmbat Madencilik, Prof. Dr. Kemal BARIŞ from Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University, President of the Congress, Mehmet ÇELİK, Labor Inspector from the Ministry of Labor and Security, and Nedim TEKİN, Occupational Safety Expert and Board Member of the Chamber of Mechanical Engineers.

September 13, 2024 was reserved for presentations. Ahmet İBUK and Halim DEMİRKAN from the Mining Engineering Professional Development Association (MMMGD) presented “UMREK AND Coal Mining” and İsmail ARSLAN, MMMGD member İsmail ARSLAN from İMBAT Madencilik (with D. Karakuş and F.F. Gökdeniz) presented “Investigation of Longwall Production Plan Alternatives in Underground Coal Mining”. Tiler Group ÖZŞEN Madencilik participated with four presentations prepared by Oktay YAZICI, Suha KESKİN, Tolga PARLAK and their colleagues about their experiences and works in underground coal mining.

Prof. Dr. Suphi URAL's (with F. BİLİRGEN, H. BİLİRGEN) “Development of a 1 liter Coal Dust Explosion Sphere with Light Sensor”, Arif KARA's “Applications Against Spontaneous Combustion in the Context of Prevention Culture”, with a total of 30 presentations in the congress program were followed with interest.
